Jessica Walton: I’m a disabled, queer person. If you like me good, if not, bad luck.
Jessica Walton is an author, musician and teacher. She wrote the picture book Introducing Teddy, which she came up with the idea for when searching for picture books that reflected the diversity of her family, and in particular trans people, in a positive way. At 9 years old, Jess lost her leg to cancer and has worn a prosthetic leg ever since. She speaks to us about her experiences growing up, how she came to identify as a disabled woman later in life and how she’s practising her pride today and embracing who she is, no matter what others think.
