Gender stereotypes affect and limit everyone. As women, we’re often told we’re either not enough or too much of something – ‘too emotional’, ‘too loud’, ‘too bossy’, ‘too prudish’, ‘too fat’, ‘too thin’, ‘too opinionated’… the list goes on. Our community is increasingly gender diverse and yet the stereotypes and labels aren’t shifting. When it’s impossible to escape these stereotypes and the labels and expectations placed upon an individual by a patriarchal society, how do you throw off those shackles, do what you love and own who you are? We speak to four amazing women – Yassmin Abdel-Magied, Betty Amsden, Sally Goldner and Dani Smarrelli - about their incredible journeys and how they do just that.
